Week 6: Tagging, Folksonomies & Technorati

Learn about tagging and discover Del.icio.us (a social bookmaking site)

I think there's still a lot more that I can learn from del.icio.us. From what I've come across so far I think it's great that I can access my bookmarks anywhere I'm at. I usually use my laptop for school and my desktop when I'm at home.

Explore Technorati and learn how tags work with blog posts.

I tried out the "Learning 2.0" search in the different fields and results decreased in each different field. With all this technology it's hard to keep up with and the new advances and changes in information. Tagging is great because it links together people with simliar interests or associations with items of interest. I guess the disadvantage is that if you search with a limited number of tags you might miss out on other important information.

Read a few Perspectives on Web 2.0. Future of Libraries

Library 2.0 is great such that it can be tailored to the needs of the patrons by encouraging input and feedback. In turn, the library my be designed with no barriers with access to everyone over the internet. It's kinda scary to imagine the future of the library as a whole in itself, but I would hope there's a physical site we can go to in order to seek help, but maybe bookstores like Borders or Barnes and Nobles will act as physical sites for current publications and the net for the older stuff.
